There was a station ID, but the Analog Shut Down was a bit sloppy. They got the opening disclaimer of the infomercials in. A clean cut after the ID would have been nice. Oh, well...

So THAT's what that morse code signal is used for! When I was growing up around Broadalbin, I could get the J-J-H Fulton County Airport beacon at the bottom of all AM radios in my house. Never understood what it was used for until now.

That lone sub carrier audio service sounds like WMHT RISE. As of about 2 years ago, I know they still had dedicated receivers for that deployed and in use in the Capital Region.

I had one of these in the early 80's. I loved this set. Mine was badly discolored (I got it as a rescue). I sprayed it with a dark brown epoxy paint and it turned out just great. It got to be a pain to move for a young single guy, but I sold it to my boss who got many more years out of it.

I remember analog TV stations signing off like it was yesterday. I can't believe it was well over a decade ago that this happened. Nowadays, with streaming seeming to replace digital cable and satellite, I could see digital cable and satellite going the same route as analog TV, ending TV channels entirely. At the same time, I still feel nostalgic for analog TV (and analog technology in general). While it seems obsolete to me, there is something about analog that is charming to me.

Thank you. I thought of this the other day, honestly. I was thinking of my childhood at the time. My older siblings would often listen to music on the radio. ❤

Just purchased as a kinda "who cares" at the price. Like $28.00 now on Amazon with unlimited return policy so not that worried about getting a lemon. Question for those that have purchased and installed, I want to use the 2 already installed speakers or at least the speaker holes in my '73 VW. But also add two (2) in the rear. What amp (if you have added one) did you buy/use? I'll circle back later with a true review when installed.

I wish someone would make a good old fashioned non-chip transistorized desktop FM/AM radio again without all the nonsense. I have to buy vintage radios to have around. New ones are horrible.

Just as an FYI, Blaupunkt didn't "out source" to China. They went out of business. Some Chinese company bought the name. (Blaupunkt is German for "Blue dot".) I have one of these in my '99 Silverado. Works good, sounds good. I paid $20.

I had this radio back in the day, I hung it off the grab handle of my VW's . When it wasn't in my car it was plugged into the PA system at the Supermarket I worked nights at. Great radio, great company. Thanks for the review/band scan. This is a great performer
